Why Acupuncture?

About Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient method used to attain and maintain good health and well-being. Tiny needles, sterile and solid, are inserted at specific points selected to treat your particular issues.

When your body is out of balance, it cannot function normally. This results in dysfunction or pain. Acupuncture helps the body heal itself. It activates the body's natural painkillers (endorphins), anti-inflammatory responses (corticosteroids), and the happy brain chemical (serotonin).

The needles act as gentle transmitters, identifying the area of need and directing the healing response to that area.

Science has accepted the fact that muscles hold emotional memory. The same can be said for organs. Acupuncture helps to break the attachment to emotional memories, encouraging better physical health.

Pain Management

Pain can alter your life completely. It's difficult to concentrate on anything else when your life is full of pain.

Regardless of the origin of your pain, acupuncture can help alleviate it, and improve sleep (making everything easier). Other symptoms may also improve, whether or not they are related to the pain.

Acute pain can be improved in 6 treatments over 3 weeks.

Chronic pain usually requires treatment past the initial 6, until it is agreed to discontinue because the desired improvement is achieved, or if other therapies are necessary for additional improvement.

Fertility

Whether you are trying for your first, second, or third child, and whether you are trying naturally, or using medical help, acupuncture can assist in optimizing fertility.

Pregnancy

Acupuncture helps you adapt to your changing body during pregnancy. Treatment can help reduce anxiety, improve sleep, alleviate heartburn, nausea, and pain.

Preparing your body for labor is another benefit of acupuncture. These special treatments start in the 38th week.

After the baby is born, acupuncture and adjunct therapies can help you heal and improve breastfeeding and relieve anxiety.
