What I Do...

Acupuncture for Everyone

Picture
I am Marlene Burk. I am fully licensed and insured to provide acupuncture in the state of Pennsylvania. I earned a Masters degree in acupuncture from the Won Institute of Graduate Studies in Glenside, PA. Previously, I learned Shiatsu massage which is acupressure, using the same construct as acupuncture.

I may choose to use acupuncture, acupressure and massage, moxa, cupping, heat therapy, and aromatherapy during treatment sessions.

I highly value continuing education, and have completed courses in the following subjects:
  • Prenatal and Pre-labor treatments for pregnant women
  • Women pursuing fertility
  • Non-needle techniques for children
  • Ear acupuncture for trauma and pain relief

There are many benefits of acupuncture. The World Health Organization has recognized the following:
  • pain
  • cancer treatment adverse reactions
  • blood pressure problems
  • problems and discomforts in pregnancy
  • depression
  • and more...
I provide treatment for:
  • fertility
  • pregnancy discomforts
  • labor preparation
  • children with non-needle techniques
  • pain management
  • digestive disorders
  • psycho-emotional moderation (anxiety, depression, trauma)

Adults

The initial acupuncture treatment for adults lasts 90 minutes. This includes a discussion of your medical history and a treatment. No paperwork is required.

Subsequent visits for adults last 60 minutes.

Modalities used during an adult acupuncture session may include:
  • acupuncture
  • moxa
  • massage targeting specific problem areas
  • gua sha
  • cupping
  • aromatherapy
  • meditation and breathing instruction

Children

Every child visit is 30 minutes. No needles are used.

Children are treated using metal implements which tap and stroke along meridian lines.

Moxa is also employed to warm the meridians and move stagnation.
